Low Slope Roofs Done Right in Calgary

A low slope roof sits between a flat roof and a standard pitched roof. Shingles are not designed for these pitches, and when they are used anyway, water backs up under them and leaks follow.

Iron Shield Roofing installs proper low slope systems on Calgary homes, garages, porches, additions and commercial buildings. We pick a membrane or metal system rated for the pitch, detail every edge and wall properly and make sure water has a clear path off the roof.

If you have a low pitch roof that leaks, call (403) 471-9023. In many cases the fix is the right material, not more patching.

Low Slope Roofing Systems We Install

Low slope roofs are sometimes called low pitch roofs. We install two-ply SBS modified bitumen, TPO, EPDM and PVC membranes on these roofs, along with standing seam metal where the pitch allows. Each option has different strengths, and we will recommend the one that fits your building and budget.

Hail Damage Repair

Calgary hail can bruise, puncture and tear low slope membranes and dent metal flashings. We inspect your roof after a storm, document the damage with photos for your insurer and repair or replace the affected areas.

Many commercial buildings use low slope roofs because they cover large areas efficiently and leave room for rooftop equipment.

Multi-Family Low-Slope Roof

Condos, apartments and townhome complexes often combine pitched roofs with low slope sections over entries, balconies and connectors.

We handle both, so one contractor is responsible for the whole roof and every transition between systems.

Low Slope Roof Materials
Low slope roofs use two main families of materials: built-up systems and modern membranes. Here is how they compare.
Built-Up
Built-Up
Built-up roofs use alternating layers of asphalt and reinforcing felts, often finished with gravel. They are heavy and durable and are still found on many older Calgary buildings. We repair built-up roofs and convert them to modern membranes when they wear out.
Membrane
Membrane systems such as TPO, EPDM, PVC and two-ply SBS are the most common choice for new low slope roofs. They are lighter than built-up roofs, faster to install and highly water resistant. The right membrane depends on how the roof is used, the building type and your budget.
Membrane
A low slope roof can perform as well as any other roof when it is built with the right materials and details. If your low pitch roof is leaking or near the end of its life, our Calgary team can inspect it and give you clear options. Call (403) 471-9023 or request an estimate online.
